BJ Guyer, who was in charge of the puppets for Crank Yankers, was the guy who led this build and is also one of the 4 puppeteers. He is ably joined by Rob Saunders, Carla Rudy, and Frank Langley. It is my understanding that they are actually small scale versions of Sicilian rod puppets, with the steel rod down to the head. BJ met Beck last year when we worked on a music video puppeteering his body in a fly harness. I heard the song non-stop for days, and still don't know what that one was called. They are doing a 1 week west coast tour, 10 days on the east coast, and 3 weeks in Europe. While this sounds like an awesome gig (and I'm sure it is) it also ain't easy. Rob, who puppeteers mini-Beck, does something like 1:45-2 hours straight- no break! They do the opening number alone, then mimic the band for the rest, and work with them on the encore. Frank and BJ mostly work 2 puppets! Ain't no Cake Walk! But they get to ride with the band on the tour bus! Greg --- RaraBird-AT-aol.com wrote: > Wow, I am so sorry I missed this.
