Subject: [Puptcrit] To all Experienced Puppet Builders/teachers

Hi Fred Cowan,
And all others who may or may not participate actively on this list.

I don't know your work yet, but I'd love to find out more (from everybody).
>From what you wrote (Fred), it seems you have lots of experience to share.

I'd love to see more Puppet making Videos available.
For me, that seems like a good compromise to expensive travels around the world, which I could never afford before or now. Maybe someday.

Would you make such a video? (that goes for all of you out there with a little teaching fiber in their being)
I'm sure the world would appreciate.
Not enough information sharing is a reason why we must re-learn everything from generation to generation.
It pained me that I never found a mentor to show me the ropes, so I compensate by being such a mentor when I can. Internet resources have been my main source of techniqcal information.

Recently, the training video trade has been put more in the spotlight by a company called The Gnomon Workshop.
http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/
They started with the Computer Graphics fields, and are rapidly expanding into all the connected arts.
I have seen 4 of their videos. Simple and efficient, no un-necessary fireworks.
Wendy Froud is in the work to make a training video with them, I assume it will be her world famous Art doll workshop. I am almost certainly ordering a copy when it comes out

The Creagers, famous and totally amazing Art Doll artists, also have training videos:

I'm definitely ordering their "Sculpting the Head", even though it is only available in VHS.
I will either need to find a store that will convert it to DVD for me (with proof of purchase and proper explanation, and perhaps, if necessary, I'll destroy the VHS in front of them once the copy is made), or to buy a VHS player, which I'd rather not. My computer is not equipped for video input, sadly, because if it had been, I could have done it myself for under 10$.
