Subject: [Puptcrit] Who Pays For It?

I am curious. When puppeteers build and perform "relevant" shows,
who pays for it? Where do you get your bookings? How is it
financed? I do family entertainment. When I put together a show,
the expense of the build comes out of my own pocket. I make it up
when I book the show and perform it for parks and recs, libraries,
summer camps, etc. But who pays for these shows that are not in the
mainstream?
