There are many reasons that a thread doesn't get picked up. Often it is because it doesn't stand out enough against the rest of the material in the post in relative importance or interest, or it seems like a rhetorical question, or there is not much interest in the thread, or the timing, or, or, or... Often when these threads go on in a manner that doesn't interest me I glance at them and then use the delete button. A possible new thread would go into the virtual ash bin. If a new thread is important to you I would recommend that you post it separately as a new thread. No guarantee that it will be picked up, but it stands a better chance than being part of another post. Personally I have nearly zero interest in this type of show as I find them to be often more sermon than show. I don't mind being challenged or made to think. but I do mind being told what to think or how. I am offended by a "show" that is all black and white in its thinking and presentation: an "either you are with us or you are a demon" attitude. I could go on, but I don't think this position really interests many on the list and I would only end up writing a sermon of the kind that I would be preaching about. Basically it is this, I am not a pig to be led by a ring in the nose to some trough of thought. Entertain me with a good show that also makes me think and perhaps even points me in a direction of thought, but I am capable of forming my own thoughts and conclusions. Sometimes it turns out that as I grow I find I as wrong or I need to change my position, but I am not afraid to be wrong or to change my position if or when my opinion changes. BTW, most of the shows I present are classic tales that have a strong moral message. I believe that they are, in a way, planting seeds of change on an individual level that produce social change on the larger level. But the most important thing in producing the show is to present an entertaining story. > Not that I mind that directly, sometimes a thread just doesn't take > off, but instead it did > seem that many folks were more interested in about talking about a > movie than about their work. And what is wrong with that? However, it seemed to me that there was less talk about the actual movie than there was about how to present an idea or position, so wasn't it really about how they work or would like to work? Just my opinion Christopher _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-lists.driftline.org Admin interface: http://lists.driftline.org/listinfo.cgi/puptcrit-driftline.org Archives: http://www.driftline.org
