Subject: Re: [Puptcrit] To all Experienced Puppet Builders/teachers

Hi, Mathieu. I have never thought about making a vidio of my construction
methods, but a puppeteer friend and I are currently working on a book. I don't
think my methods of building are the best or only way but I do know they have
worked well for me. Some time ago I was told I would live about two years
because of a very agressive cancer I have and at that time I began to think that
I hated the thought that my skills would die with me so I have tried to share
as much of my knowledge to as many puppeteers as possible. In the meantime, I
decided I needed more time than two years, and decided I wasn't going to let
the oncologists tell me when to die - I will do it when I get damn good and
ready. consequently, I have already lived more than 4 years and I feel GREAT .
I have had several workshops in my studio with others - two puppeteers even
stayed with me for a month each. Knowing that I can't do this too many times
has encouraged me to work on the book. Most of the skills and knowledge I have
learned from others at P of A conventions and workshops. Many things -
especially animations- I have developed on my own because of my education as a
watchmaker. I feel very fortunate to have become involved in our art at a good
time and was able to learn from such greats as Martin and Olga Stevens - Rufus
and Margo Rose - etc. etc. I will think about making a vidio, Mathieu.
Anyway - keep up your good work. Fred
