I would store the mold outside, but the website info on the product states that it can be damaged by moisture. It's kinda moist weather here these days. Sealing it in a plastic bag would slow down the evaporation, if any remained to be done. But as a temporary measure, I think it would help (for tonight). I wrote to Smooth-On and to my collegue who made the mold. If I don't get a true solution this week, I'm getting reimbursed or I'll demand a new mold, with non toxic safe results. My home is as non toxic as I can make it without sacrificing my art options. I made myself sick years ago when I was working terra cotta clays (unfired) in my small bedroom. Respiratory problems from the dust, obviously. I also gave my hands a lifetime of dryness by cleaning shelves with methyl hydrate, when I was an art supply store clerk. I was new at the art game, and NOBODY ever warned me about ANY toxicity issues with ANY art stuff. (I was truly a new-born idiot, remained so until I seeked the info myself, as I was surrounded by even more idiots who just refused to care about health issues. most are probably dead or near dead by now). I moved to paper mache years ago, and am mastering it step by step. The stuff is non-toxic and can do almost everything. The most toxic stuff that I allow myself to use are epoxy glues and spray paints, which I use mostly outside, and limit the use of in bad weather like winter (some paints and varnishes can't be applied in the cold, and I won't use them inside, no matter what).
