Subject: Re: [Puptcrit] hand puppets

Hi Robert

Your question about a hard head hand puppet with a moving mouth. I
would suggest creating a miniature ventriloquist dummy head mouth
movement. Place a control stick (a quarter inch dowel or 1/2 inch
dowel)in the head attached to the top of the head with a lever which can
be operated by the index finger. The thumb is in on puppet hand and the
middle finger is in the other puppet hand while the ring and little
finger are holding on to the bottom of the control stick. Hinge the
mouth and attach a spring from the top of the tongue area to the inside
top of the head. Attach a cord from the bottom inside area of the mouth
through a screw eye on the control stick down to the lever which would
run parallel to the mouth. When you pull the lever down the mouth opens
and release the lever and the mouth is closed by the spring.
  I hope this helps.
