Subject: [Puptcrit] Great material for Shadow puppets...

I've found a GREAT material for shadow puppets and a GREAT supplier, so
I thought I'd share it with the list. The material is HDPE 1/32 plastic
- that's .035 thick, and is comes in sheets that are 24" by 47" for
only $6.25.

TAP Plastics is the first place I've found that sells the stuff in
relatively small sheets. Normally, its sold in huge quantities for
industrial purposes.

The neat thing about this material is that it comes is many colors,
including the "natural" which is somewhat translucent, so color can be
added.

It is flexible, like parchment. Unlike matt board, which you need to
hack through with a xacto knife, you can basically score this stuff on
one side, bend it, and score the other side. It then snaps in a clean
line. MUCH easier than cardboard, wood, plexi, etc....

You can also cut it with a laser cutter for intricate designs. It takes
less time to cut than Plexi, and is less likely to break. And remember,
you can't laser-cut lexan.

the URL of the material is:

Cheers,
DMCG
