Subject: Re: [Puptcrit] Need eye-making advice (resin and mechanics)

I create eyes using this method,

-I make a silicone mold out of a sphere that I have milled
-Pour in the 2 part resin- white or cream tint
-I create a iris using a graphics program, like Photoshop. You can make any
design you want....perhaps a happy face.
-I slice off part of the plastic sphere, just the size of the iris.
-Glue on the decal to the plastic sphere
-Pour some clear resin in the sphere(same size to replace the part removed
above), pop it out, glue it on the plastic sphere
-Spray on some clear poly coat.
-Boom you have an eye ball.... realistic.

-On creating an eye rig, you need to determine first, how many axis the eyes
will need to move on plus blinking
-Next, consider small, but strong parts and materials.
-I have milled the holder for the eyes like a two contoured gaskets that
form, in a sense a socket that the eye fits into.
-Then use a metal pin in the back of the eye for the point of control. How
you move this pin, hmmmm many ways...

Cheers,

William
