I half-agree with what you are saying about hiring the right people to do the job. In my case, however, I am the puppetbuilder, not the performer. The performers will work with the puppet that will be given tis time. Usually, we have a long trial period during reharsals and I can make major modifications, but this time, we have a tight deadline. I don't see what's wrong with simple 1800 methods. Whatever works. simple usually works! I'm still a begginner builder, learning as I go. Even these simple mechanics seem a bit advanced to me. They no longer seem too daunting, I'm trying them and learning!. One has to learn any way that is available. I admire the high tech work of people who go the "Henson way". Until I can reach that level, and it will require LOTS of money which I don't have right now, I will keep studying the "simplest" possible ways, reaching higher every new project.
