This was perhaps 1/2" Thick foam, cut to a 6"x 1" Strip. If a 1/2" thick strip is too much, a 1/4" thick one may work as well. The closed-cell foam doesn't absorb sweat, but should occasionally be replaced. It is glued in place with contact cement, and when replaced it is ripped out and the new strip glued into the same spot. I think this is one of the best solutions, because it makes it easy to replace the part that gets yuckie. The actors also prefer to have the mask slightly off their face.
