Subject: [Puptcrit] Fashion Design summer teaching job

Putney Student Travel is urgently and immediately seeking candidates for a
residential summer teaching position in Fashion Design with our Excel
pre-college program at Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts from June 19 - July
21 (a one-week staff orientation is included)

We are looking for a knowledgeable, dynamic, energetic person who has a
genuine love of their subject area and an innate teaching ability.

Candidates should have an excellent academic record and be comfortable
designing their own college-level curriculum, with a demonstrable aptitude for
teaching small groups of bright college-bound students in workshop or
seminar-style format. Formal teaching experience is not required.

Here is the description of the Fashion Design course:
Fashion Design: In this introductory course, students learn the basic skills
of clothing design. They begin by learning to communicate design concepts in
clothing with style and expression, as well as considering the social and
cultural implications of fashion. Students will then have the opportunity to
sketch out the designs of their own clothes, including patterns, colors, and
cuts. Students will make of their designs a reality through a series of
sequenced projects which the whole program will admire in a culminating fashion
show. They will need to commit extra time outside of class time to finish
projects. Students may be responsible for purchasing extra materials for their
designs.

The positions are demanding, time-consuming, and 100% residential.

During the program, residential instructors are expected to become involved
in the campus community, directing and participating in athletic, arts, and
cultural activities. Experience working with young people in similar
residential settings is preferred. All travel and living expenses are covered while on
the program, and instructors receive a competitive salary.

Interested applicants should immediately contact Patrick Noyes by phone
(802) 387-5000 or email patrick-AT-goputney.com Further information about the Excel
at Amherst program is available on our website at www.goputney.com
