Subject: Re: [Puptcrit] Marionette Stringing advice?

I don't know if this has been suggested before, but what about those
cylindrical jeweller's clasps that you sometimes see on bracelets and
necklaces for the string attachments to the marionette itself?

These are basically 2 cylinders threaded to screw together.

My thinking is (this would probably only work on wood or solid marionette
bits) you could counter-sink the entire clasp assembly into the body and
attach the strings to one end of the clasp. If you keep things flush,
you'd need tweezers or needlenoses to grasp the top half of the clasp and
screw/unscrew it, but it might still make a good (sort of) quick release
mechanism. Combined with the suggestions for stringing your control, it
might work.

For visual reasons, you could probably slot a plug that goes into the
countersink hole to cover it, too.

I've done almost no work with Marionettes, so I don't know for sure if
that's even feasible, but hopefully it will kick some more ideas loose for
someone. . .

Thanks,

Eric L.
