There are a couple dumpsters that I know of that are wonderful sources of corregated cardboard. I know a guy who builds stage sets for theatre out of this stuff. Hint: If you paint it on both sides, it doesn't warp. Dumpsters on constructions sites are often pretty good too. I'll hit those in the daytime and even let the contractor know I'm there. They usually don't mind at all. > I also found what might be my biggest puppet-realted find ever: a > small and strong carrying case. I have a salesman's sample case that I use when I'm working a theatre show or when I'm teaching a puppetry class. In there I have patters and tools, craft bins with eyes, pom-poms, pipe cleaners, glue sticks and guns and other stuff, and the ubiquitous roll of gaffer's tape. I just picked up a case similar to the one a friend uses for her haircutting supplies. Mine is missing the inside pockets and fabric, but I'm figuring that I can customize mine to carry the basics for quick repairs so that I don't have to carry the "puppet box" if I don't want to, but it fits into the puppet box if need be. I have this one plastic tub that we refer to as "the condo" that we use when we take a short show out. I usually can get all the puppets in that one tub and it still fits in my car. But I have been scouring garage sales etc, for suitcases. I'm planning on painting puppet faces on the outside, even on my own suitcase, so I can find it at the airport. -- Sandy SDG _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-lists.driftline.org Admin interface: http://lists.driftline.org/listinfo.cgi/puptcrit-driftline.org Archives: http://www.driftline.org
