Those fellows weren't exactly known for being kind. I know that one playwright, who worked almost exclusively for a puppet theater, was tortured and killed towards the end of the Inquisition. It is said that one of his shows was going on at the theater as he was being killed. I continue research into this when I have the time and I think I can track down the scripts (I know of about 6 or 8). It would be interesting to restage his shows. His life story would be good for people to know about too. Puppets often have trouble keeping their big mouths shut and that can be dangerous at times. However, as discussed many times on puptcrit regarding puppets and politics, the commentary is also an important aspect of puppetry - just try not to get yourself arrested if the Inquisition resumes.
