They were called Galanty Shows (pronounced gerlantee),although the scripts for the shadows were not necessarily Punch & Judy. I remember discussing the idea with Percy Press and suggesting that he could use a miner's helmet. cheers Ray -----Original Message----- From: puptcrit-bounces-AT-lists.driftline.org [mailto:puptcrit-bounces-AT-lists.driftline.org] On Behalf Of Dan McGuire Sent: 29 July 2006 20:24 To: puptcrit-AT-lists.driftline.org Subject: [Puptcrit] Punch Shadow Puppet Folks: I'm also thinking of making a set of Punch and Judy Shadow puppets. I am looking for images of the characters in profile or 3/4 view to help me with the design. I've got a few good examples of Punch, and wonder if anyone else can send me images of the other characters in fairly high resolution. I wonder if a Punch and Judy puppeteers are intrigued by this idea. One could create a sequence, within a traditional Punch show, with a white sheet curtain lit from behind and utilizing shadow puppets for a "night" sequence. And the resemblence between Petruk and Punch is remarkable, yes? <http://homepage.mac.com/dandmcguire/ShadowPuppet/PhotoAlbum74.html> Cheers, DMCG _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-lists.driftline.org Admin interface: http://lists.driftline.org/listinfo.cgi/puptcrit-driftline.org Archives: http://www.driftline.org _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-lists.driftline.org Admin interface: http://lists.driftline.org/listinfo.cgi/puptcrit-driftline.org Archives: http://www.driftline.org
