I will be traveling to Venice and the surrounding area in September and wonder if anyone knows of anything puppet related that I can check out. I heard that there are some mask makers there. Or perhaps you know of an Italian Puppet company I could write to inquire more? My focus as a puppeteer is on marionettes but I love most things in the world of puppets. Thanks! Anyway, I thought I would never do a show for free- but I think this one really needs to get the wheels greased and get some audience feedback- and if the feedback is from those aware of generic puppet issues+, so much the better & of course I would love to meet you live :) The show is "Secret Life of Rodents" FREE but canned food is requested to donate to Philabundance what: "Secret Life of Rodents" 1 person hand puppet show, based on the fable Stone Soup At: Bucks County Community College, 275 Swamp Road, Newtown PA, 18940 in the Orangery When: 1:00p 3:00p and 7:00p, Saturday August 19th who: Signal Light Theatre, Rachel Anthonisen I am posted at UNIMA-USA (at first I said the show was 40 min, then I changed it to 20 now I'm thinking it's closer to the original length, but we will see, we will see....) Hope you can make it, Thanks [ see http://www.driftline.org/puptcrit/RodentTitlePostsm.jpg and http://www.driftline.org/puptcrit/we3.bmp ] ------------------------------ Message: 4 Date: Thu, 10 Aug 2006 23:46:55 -0400 From: Jamie Ashby <jamie.ashby-AT-utoronto.ca> Subject: Re: [Puptcrit] Tales from an Empty Fridge To: puptcrit-AT-lists.driftline.org Message-ID: <1155268015.44dbfdafcd217-AT-webmail.utoronto.ca> They presented it at last year's Puppets Up! festival in Almonte, Ontario. They're performing here (I just got into Almonte tonight) this weekend, but with a different show. You can check out the details (and a short article by yours truly!) at: www.puppetsup.ca They are definitely an exciting company, experimenting with different forms. Times article about the Conservatory of Puppetry Arts in Pasadena, CA. (Nancy Smith had posted one previously, but it didn't work for me.) http://www.calendarlive.com/galleriesandmuseums/cl-et-puppets17jul17,0,6333216.story?coll=cl-home-top-blurb-right The volunteers at COPA are working hard, and they recently finished cataloguing item number 2,900. Beth Fernandez, the Director, told me that at this point they think they have catalogued about half of the puppets in the collection. (The vast collection of books is already catalogued and is not included in the 2,900 count.) When this collection finds a permanent home, it will be a magnificent, amazing tribute to the art of puppetry. It's only a matter of time... and money. So, PLEASE consider joining COPA as a supporting member.
