I was initially critical of the way Sesame Street developed the character (essentially they have her to better compete with Dora the Explorer) and I'm suspicious that a lot of their recent projects like Sesame Beginnings and Abby are more motivated by merchandising and "keeping up with the Joneses" than their stated goal of educating preschoolers, but I do think like most here that a lot of the controversy around her is simply rediculous. She's an adorable, pink little monster and I am sure little girls will love her. I'm in Mexico so I have only seen clips of her online, but from what I have seen she's really well performed by Leslie Carrara-Rudolph, who is quickly becoming one of my favourite puppeteers to watch.
