I am incredibly challenged when it comes to making things, but I made  
some pretty nifty hand puppet hands by carving them out of wooden  
spoons! They already had great cruvature for gripping things.

Following David Powell's suggestions, I used small lengths of garden  
hose to connect the hands and (I think) the head. It expanded the size  
of the puppet, which was great, as it had to share the stage with two  
human actors.
