 Good point. When an act is as visual as vent acts tend to be, it would be rather rude to cut away from the performer just to get a mug of the host on the screen. One might miss something from the performer. I suppose no one really knows but Dave himself.

Or, he doesn't want to upstage the act, which is my take.  When I'm watching 
a performer, I don't really want to cut away to see the host.  Especially 
when I might miss something like a "booger".
