Dave is a lost cause, however, and I think Bob Nathanson is right ....Dave doesn't like puppeteers. It's a combination that he can't control and the risks are to great for him to be seen with egg on his face. If you watched his interview with Ann Heche last week it becomes obvious. In that situation he kept dodging around wanting to use the Lesbian word with regard to her bisexuality only to have her top him by saying it first and in prompting him and openly discussing the value she places on being free to choose what life style she wants. She was to quick for him and she got the better of him and I don't suppose he was any to thrilled by her matter-of -factness still chideing him with the proper amount of sweetness and light sans soap box. He never knows how to handle the fact he hasn't married the mother of his child.when people bring it up either. To me it is very hard for some people to suspend their belief and go with the flow. That's what I loved about the Mupper Show. If you ever saw Betty Davis bomb on that show (she could hardly even look at the puppets and was a uncomfortable as hell ) and then take a look at how Milton Berle took on the puppet hecklers it was a lesson in showmanship and acting. Berle knew where the laughs were and didn't always care if they were at his expense. When he spoke to the puppets they were as real as you or I. Let's see how Dave does tonight.
