Subject: [Puptcrit] A different way of raising money for kid shows

I have found the current discussion to have its comical aspects. A week ago I visited the Getty Villa in Malibu, California. The place has recently reopened after being unavailable to the Public for 7 years (for 275 million dollars of remodelling), and now visitors including a couple of young kids on our college tour bus have the opportunity to see naked statues, clay phalluses, varied erotic coupling scenes on Greek vases and such. Most of the X-rated aspects went over the kids' heads, and maybe all of it did. They were just looking at a lot of old stuff. But it was artistic and it was cultural and educational stuff from Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire, from whence sprang current Western Cvilization, like it or not.

Sex is bad but blowing up or shooting people is OK if you keep up with Iraq these days (all in the name of freedom or religion, of course). For a lot of people spending tons of money on bombs is better than Katrina relief, health or education efforts or REALLY promotng "freedom and democracy". It gets curiouser and curiouser.

Well if Tim's method of raising cash to produce puppet shows for children bothers some of you, I won't tell you about a puppeteer who appeared in a couple of porn videos to pay for a Peter Rabbit rod puppet show. But doing the puppet show became possible as a result. That being said, I must add that he did not advertise the source of funding for his show.

You COULD compare notes with past Popes who accepted financial donations from devout members of the mafia. The funding source was not advertised either.

It has been very interesting on puptcrit lately, and proves once again that puppetry does not exist in a vacuum.
