I agree with you, Mathieu.  Some of my best puppets are ones that I made 
at the last minute for a bit.  I usually find it's the combination of  
knowing exactly what I need and not being able to over-think it.  I have 
a couple of aliens made out of automobile headliner (kind of 
Beaker-esque) that are always a crowd pleaser and are just a dream to 
operate.  Compare that to some of the rod puppets that took days to make 
and that I desperately want to take apart and try again.
