I use the water based contact cement as a "carrier" for acyrlic paints
when painting over a flexible surface....working time is short, but the ability
to thin with water is helpful. I sometimes "paint" an entire foam rubber body
surface to give additional protection against deterioration. BUT if you
paint over a seam made with original formula contact cement, it will end to
loosen the seams, so painting over with water-based contact cement is workable
alternative. Weldwood makes the "green can' cwater based and the "brown can"
non-water based. Water based does not hold as well as the original.

We have tried to mix dye with the contact cement to match skin color,
we've flocked over a completed body and we've painted over foam rubber and L200
with both contact cement and "tool dip" Experimenting can turn out well or
disastrous.... Jim gamble
