My own experience is that there are two factors to using Halogen lights that potential users should be aware of and that I have mentioned before when the topic has come up. 1. Halogen lights are much hotter than conventional bulbs. Not a problem if they are far enough away from puppeteers and audience and not overheating a confined space (as inside an enclosed shadow puppet booth.) 2. Halogen lights are much more fragile than conventional bulbs, especially when still warm from use - they take a long time to cool. Not a problem if you are using a permanent stage in a permanent location. With my own traveling shows, I had to switch back to conventional bulbs when my expensive halogen bulbs kept failing because I had to pack them up quickly after shows, before they had a chance to COMPLETELY cool. Some older members may remember that in the days of Carousel slide projectors it was recommended to run the fan for a while after turning the bulb off so it could cool before moving/packing up the projector - yes, those are halogen projector bulbs. Just my two cents.
