You can frequently figure a journalist to be nosey, and to have some  
good info and connections. The one I mentioned a couple of weeks ago  
is also a real swell guy, lives there, and speaks your language.

Andrew Kim is an inspiring puppet artist, and has been involved in  
art-activism in Taiwan. You might get some leads from him. Check him
