I too would love to know who most people believe to be the very best. Reading just a few articles in prominent newspapers that state that such artist is the world's most famous of that type of puppetry is probably not thorough enough. All I can say is that among the puppeteers I've seen live, Basil Twist was the most mindblowing with graceful movements. Even more impressive was that he made the puppet himself (I think). Neville Tranter was the most impressive for presence on stage. He just made a short appearance, using another puppet than the one he was used to for tat specific bit (the death of Moliere), and it was awesome and captivating. Even more so because he made you believe totally in the individuality of his puppet with whom he interacted. He held it in his arm, but still, the puppet did not feel like it was a dummy. _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-lists.driftline.org Admin interface: http://lists.driftline.org/listinfo.cgi/puptcrit-driftline.org Archives: http://www.driftline.org
