Subject: [Puptcrit] Theme Park Shows?

This reminds me; could those who know email me with the names (and
states, I suppose) of theme parks, amusement parks, zoos, and public
parks that have puppet shows now? It used to be more common, I fear,
than it is, but I know there are still a few. Disney has many, but
they are usually grand productions in which puppetry is an element; I
don't think they have any puppet booths set up in the Parks, but in
this I could be wrong. Disney has had booths set up in the past,
including at Epcot's German pavilion.

Also, department stores used to sometimes have shows in the shops--
Macy's at New York's Herald Square still does, for Christmas. If
anyone knows of a place nearby them that does the same, please send me
a note.

I'd even be interested in hearing about specific Renaissance Faires
that have regular puppet shows, as they are in some ways like the old
English agricultural fairs. Sterling Forest in New York used to have
marionettes and glove puppets, but, alas, no longer seems to. New
Jersey's Renaissance Kingdom has glove puppets.....

If I could be emailed offlist, why, that would be brilliant. I'm
trying to keep a comprehensive database of performances, and
performance locales, that might otherwise fall through the cracks.

Thanks in advance, and Happy Holidays,

Sean K.

Subject: Re: [Puptcrit] Mr. Joe Hanna, Dies at 95

The other creative half of Hanna-Barbera, Joe Barbera has passed
away at age 95
from natural causes.
Hanna-Barbera was the creator of MGM's Tom and Jerry cartoons. Then
became
the brain child of Yogi Bear, Scooby Doo, The Flinstones, The Jetsons,
Huckleberry Hound, Captain Caveman, Quick Draw McGraw and so on.

He will be missed by all cartoon fans.

Walt Disney said that It all began with a mouse.

For my puppetteering career, it began with a bear; Yogi Bear.

In 1986, I worked with Jimmy Rowland's workshop in Alexandria Va.

I not only did some repairs of Jimmy's marionettes versions of the
Hanna-Barbera Characters for the Kings Productions Parks; now
Paramount.
I did many shows with those puppets as well at Kings Island and
Carowinds in
NC.
Also spent a few winters at the Kings Production Character shop.
Assisting in
the production of characters for the parks, touring shows and the
crazy
assembly of 80 Yogi Bears for the KOA Campgrounds.
