Sean is right to say that George Latshaw was very
supportive of, and open with young puppeteers. I was
one of three young puppeteers at the San Francisco
National Festival in 1993, along with David Stephens
and Kevin Menegus. The three of us did our shows in a
'young performers workshop,' which George led a
talk-back for the following day. He was one of the
first puppeteers who taught me about the importance of
the story structure of a puppet show. He was very
influential to us as young puppeteers, and I will
always remember the advice he gave to us at that
