Hello Puptcritters,

Well, more sad news...  I just got an email from Luman Coad, telling 
me that Fran Dowie died on Thursday night -- December 21.   Fran was 
in an assisted-living home for the last few years and I'm told that 
he instructed the residents there on how to make puppets and do 
puppet performances.

I'll never forget how depressed Fran was when he arrived at the 1997 
P of A Festival in Toledo.  His wife, Louis, had died and he didn't 
want to go to the festival without her.  So he decided he wasn't 
going to go.  Period.  But then his family packed his bags, paid his 
registration, and said, "You're going!"  At the end of the festival, 
Fran joyfully expressed how therapeutic the whole week had been for 
him.  It was a great moment to hear him gush like that.
