Subject: [Puptcrit] Joining forces for puppet contract

Hi people.
My hand puppet seems to want to have more puppet friends made to play with him in the mythical spiritual world of puppets.

I've received another call yesterday for building puppets, which I had to decline once I read the fine prints, (crazy red tape would have made it imposssible in the delays given, and my creative rights would have been cast aside for their own profits).

And today I got approached to submit a price to build other puppets to be filmed for animations on a website. Now this project I want to be part of! They sent the biref to many artists, but I was told by the customer that my only real competition was my best friend, a sculptor and a puppetmaker. We both knew that whoever was chosen, the other would end up helping him do it all on time (5 "muppet-types" in 7-10 days, with many accurate-looking accessories). Well, my pal called me while I was writing my proposal and trying to prevent insanity at the sight of such a rushed project, and suggested we join forces again.

We work very well as a team, despite our different approaches and short bursts of technical arguments, but we complete our skill sets marvelously. It's still suprising to us after months of collaboration on various projects, starting with the puppet movie (coming up eventually, the Director is editing it himself).

Instead of one of us working like crazy and losing money when forced to hire the other at last minute, we calculated that if each puts 40 hours, we could get well paid and be almost relaxed about it.

I also recruited the services of Odile Gauvin, the costume designer who embelished my Jerome puppet, for making the accessories for this project. She's skilled at hat making as well!

We think we'll get that contract. We were very reasonable (for them and for us) in our evaluation.
We should know who gets chosen by tomorrow afternoon, because the project is due in ten days!
