The 2007 FAMILY THEATRE SERIES

Tim Gosley's THE UGLY DUCKLING

"I hate puppeteers that perform the same show year after year."
Tim Gosley (1983)

Now in its' 27th year come and see which will collapse first: the
puppeteer or the scenery. Donning a tree on his head Tim spins this
endearing tour-de-goof with elegance and humour for the whole family.

Originally rejected in 1981 by Canada's Wonderland in favour of John
Pattison (Puppets that Kill creator) THE UGLY DUCKLING garnered
Gosley a position on the Muppet's Fraggle Rock leading to his years
as Basil Bear on Canadian Sesame Street. It was also a training
ground for a young Frank Meschuleit (Left Hand of Frank). As well
as the many festival, library and school performances, it was
performed between the aisles of the Bay, behind the amphitheatre of a
religious rock revival, and played to three uni-lingual French
Canadians at a Montreal Macdonald's. The scenery is so realistic
that a dog relieved itself on the tree in Cranmore, Alberta. This
show has a history. And despite Gosley's desire to emulate Sir Arthur
Conan Doyle and kill it off, the practical reality for both Gosley
and Doyle is they need the gig. And in the case of Gosley, he enjoys
the retro pleasure of the repetition.

Tim Gosley can currently be seen on C.B.C.'s preschool children's
series Wilbur. He has just written for gaming giant UBISOFT, as well
as creating two 'new age' puppet shows for adults mixing Persian and
Medieval music involving shadow, light and video puppetry, egg
puppets along with more traditional puppetry forms. Officially Tim
lives in Toronto, his family lives in Quebec, and they are all trying
to come together in Victoria, B.C.

Shows are hosted in the Auditorium of the Metro Central YMCA,
20 Grosvenor Street. (West off Yonge St. between College and Wellesley)
