I am still working on a latex puppet head that's been imposing itself to me, instead of the Boglins style I was planning. The Chavant plastalina sculpt is already well under way, after only one night of work. see it here: http://creaturiste.blogspot.com/2007/02/wip-latex-or-silicone-puppet-head.html Chavant is hundreds of times better than the cheap fake plastalina I was used to. (I had modified a kids oil-based clay by adding vaseline while heated.) Chavant is so much harder at room temp, and so much softer when warmed, without being soggy. I got it in a tan color, so it's even more pleasing to work with, I can see all the volumes and textures so much clearer. It can be smoothed so very well! I still have the Noreen Young DVD (until the owner comes pick it up), so I can re-watch it and see what I might have missed. I'd love for my puppet head to be bald, so should be one-piece, but Young's instructions call for cutting off the back of the head! I know it's probably to make it easier to mold and to remove the clay from the mold before first use. My head shape would not allow for easy scooping... Any clue? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mathieu René" <creaturiste-AT-magma.ca> To: <puptcrit-AT-lists.driftline.org> Sent: Sunday, February 18, 2007 7:43 PM Subject: Re: [Puptcrit] Latex puppet madness??? > Thanks Steve! > _______________________________________________ > List address: puptcrit-AT-lists.driftline.org > Admin interface: > http://lists.driftline.org/listinfo.cgi/puptcrit-driftline.org > Archives: http://www.driftline.org _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-lists.driftline.org Admin interface: http://lists.driftline.org/listinfo.cgi/puptcrit-driftline.org Archives: http://www.driftline.org
