A side note: the so-called "original" King Kong in a Smithsonian exhibit some years ago was a FAKE. Bob has the real one! He has gremlins and other puppet-related items housed on a residential street in Burbank, Cal,ifornia along with non-puppet movie/TV items. The library photocopy machine was out of order so I could not make a copy for my files. To: puptcrit-AT-lists.driftline.org Message-ID: <ccc.b116dd5.330ce11b-AT-aol.com> I use tools called 'rifflers' (Rasps) which are available from Sculpture house in NYC. Maybe other places. http://www.sculpturehouse.com/ Buy the ITALIAN made files. Don't waste your money on those made in China. The ones I have from Italy I've had since school way back in 1968. They last. Don't waste your time on trying to make them. Not worth it. I also use different grades of sandpaper glued to dowels and pieces of wood, depending on the need. Large wood rasps also come in handy. I cut large pieces using a regular saw sprayed with Silicone. This keeps it from binding in large thicknesses. I use Dow Styrofoam flotation batts, used in boats and under docks. I get it from the shore where we live. Available at times from lumber yards. Also from Dow. It's cellular. Don't use the beaded stuff. You may try a 'static spray' to keep the stuff from going all over but it (the mess) is all part of the deal. I use a vacuum cleaner from time to time to clean up the mess. I don't let it slow me down. For what it's worth.
