Here are a few notes about Rena Prim

Rena Prim served as the Executive Secretary (a job now called "membership
chair") for Puppeteers of America from 1954-1966. Olga Stevens followed Rena
as Executive Secrretay.
Rena was a performer, and an inspired teacher. Rena graduated East Texas
State Teachers College. She directed the Puppet Playhouse of the Civic
Theater of Houston. She taught art in Houston Public Schools. She was the
kind of mentor who went out of her way to help eager students, such as
driving the young Jim Gamble to his first puppet festival in 1955. (Is that
right Jim?)

She was elected to the PofA board in 1952, serving as Vice President in
1953.
When PofA developed a special award in 1968, Rena was the first recipient.
The award, at that time, recognized her warm enthusiastic support of
puppetry and all those interested in puppets. The Award evolved into the
PofA Presidents Award.
