A simple red box with three mice finger puppets inside. I've seen the idea before (cows in a box), but these are better made.

I can see many possibilities. More elaborate puppets for even more punch.
How about some special actions with strings, like a wrinkling nose?
Many creatures could live in those mysterious boxes, and not all boxes need look innocent either.
