Its just that I'm a single mother and don't really have a lot of time to spend at the computer. I'd much rather be in the shop working on puppets. =) The moment I read your intial e-mail I voted "yes" because I value this community and the quality of contributions given by so many who participate. Set up the payment options Malgosia and I think most of us would probably contribute more than the $10 asked of us. I think collecting the money first and then finding the resoltuion is the best thing to do... this way, you know exactly what you can afford based on the value of actual donations received. Just my two cents, -Michele -----Original Message----- From: puptcrit-bounces-AT-lists.driftline.org [mailto:puptcrit-bounces-AT-lists.driftline.org] On Behalf Of malgosia askanas Sent: Thursday, May 03, 2007 3:14 PM To: puptcrit-AT-driftline.org Subject: [Puptcrit] About moving Puptcrit Dear All, So, I have now received 51 "yes" votes in the donations poll, and perhaps a few more "yes" votes via email. I would like to extend my thanks to all the people who have expressed their willingness to make a contribution, and also all those who wrote to me with expressions of support. As I already told you, I did find this outcome vastly disappointing. One funny - but perhaps not so surprising - thing about it is that among those who are willing to contribute financially are all those who also contribute the most to making this list worthwhile and special. Their invaluable gifts - of memories, experiences, knowledge, judgement, analysis, synthesis, observation, historic sense, technical know-how, and on and on - make this list into the wonderful resource that it has become. It is because of them that I regard the effort of running this list worth continuing, and the technical problems that this poses worth solving. With 50 contributions, I would be able to pay for a VPS server for 1 year. This is quite short of my original plan, which - very over-optimistically, as it turns out - assumed that I might get something like 200 contributions, which would pay for 4 years of a server. If I can only get enough money to carry us for 1 year, I have to figure out if I could make up the extra funds by using this server for other purposes on which I am now spending separate moneys. If I decide that such a consolidation would make sense, then I will ask you for the actual donations, and will post to the list all the payment details - how to pay by PayPal, credit-card or check. I have also followed up a bit on Dave Homsher's suggestion concerning freelists.org. The say that they do have occasional blacklisting problems, but not (yet?) with major ISPs such as AOL or Comcast. This means that they might be a better solution than what we have at present, but they are still running on a shared mail server and have to contend with the problems that this entails. I am not convinced that it is worthwhile to move the list from one shared mail server to another - but maybe it is.... In brief, I am going to give all this a bit of additional thought and research, and let you know what emerges out of it. -m _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-lists.driftline.org Admin interface: http://lists.driftline.org/listinfo.cgi/puptcrit-driftline.org Archives: http://www.driftline.org _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-lists.driftline.org Admin interface: http://lists.driftline.org/listinfo.cgi/puptcrit-driftline.org Archives: http://www.driftline.org
