Subject: [Puptcrit] Mabou Mines in DC


Mabou Mines "Peter & Wendy", a beautiful, sensitive production based on
the book by J.M. Barrie, is playing through June 24 at Arena Stage in
Washington DC.  Using a single narrator who supplies all the character
voices, "Peter & Wendy" has six masked puppeteers who use bunraku-like
puppets, shadow puppets, and object manipulation to create a magical world
that is both child-like and sophisticated.  An onstage band supplies the
Celtic score for the show.  Originally performed over a decade ago, "Peter
& Wendy" still captivates the audience ( I took my family, including my
sons, ages 10 and a jaded 14) with its warmth, imagination, and stunning
visual imagery.  If you're in the DC area, go!
