When I was about to write a 30-45 minute version of The Tortoise and The 
Hare, my wife and I saw Bob Hartman perform his version (in about one minute) at a 
national puppetry festival in East Lansing, Michigan in 1984.   Seeing his 
hysterical (and to the point) show almost convinced me to scrap the whole thing. 
  After catching Bob that first time, we never again missed an opportunity to 
witness his artistry first hand.   Speaking of national puppetry festivals, 
just a quick reminder that I am
co-directing (along with Drew Allison of Grey Seal Puppets) the next national 
festival, the Puppet Rampage, held in St. Paul, Minnesota July 17-22nd.   
Spaces are going fsat, and we are limited as to how many we can accomodate.   Our
