Subject: [Puptcrit] Belated self-intro

Friends-to-be-

The norm is to hang out on a list a while, then introduce
oneself, then take the consequences. Instead, I've been moved to
make a few posts without the intro. So, to back up:

Our micro-company, The Independent Eye, has been in operation
33 seasons; my mate/partner Elizabeth Fuller & I have worked together
for 46+. We've done every which kind of theatre, mostly
ensemble-based "experimental," with some of our most interesting
pieces involving masks & puppets.  I described our MACBETH here;
other pieces have included RASH ACTS, MEDEA/SACRAMENT, THE SHADOW
SAVER, MARIE ANTOINETTE, MARVELS (an adaptation of Gozzi), and
others. With our previous ensemble, Milwaukee's Theatre X, we did an
Alice adaptation and various other things. Will try to get photos up
on the archive as soon as I figure it out.

Moved from Milwaukee to Chicago to Lancaster, PA, to
Philadelphia, now in Sebastopol, CA, with a huge amount of touring
over the years. Most of our work is stuff that we write jointly, and
we also write plays done by other companies, as well as
collaborations with theatres that have more bucks than we do. I'm
the designer/sculptor & director, Elizabeth the composer &
problem-solver. The full rap sheet is on our website.

Now, in our dotage (that's where you finally start connecting
the dots), we're intending to focus heavily on puppet & mask
performance - for a number of reasons, including our immersion over
the past four years in another highly visual form of story-telling,
audio-drama. Next project is a restaging of our Sumerian myth
adaptation, DESCENT OF THE GODDESS INANNA, and some short comic
pieces also. I'll have endless questions.

Will be attending the Minneapolis festival and hope to meet
some of you there. Look for a six-foot Germanic kinda guy in a
leather hat & gray ponytail, looking confused.

Peace & joy-
Conrad Bishop
