Thanks for your precisions, Andrew.
My post was quite emotional, I'm affraid.

I know the green formula works eventually, I used it years ago, but it 
really takes at least an hour to dry the two layers before being able to 
join the parts. Which to me is highly unpractical.
Last night I was finally able to join the parts, but there was some warping 
due to compression, I had to cut the seam a bit. The seam is much stiffer 
than I am now used to.
