Hi all - great to read everyone's different ways of using the old standard
papier m=E2che. Also really appreciated the flurry of recent warnings vis a
vis toxic material use. Mathieu, I'm glad you're returning to your "safety
first" methods!

 

Re Alan Cook's comments --  "to help kids keep track of how many layers, we
alternated with two colors of decorator paper towels ..."  I add food
colouring to half the paste mix and keep track of alternate paper layers by
alternating between coloured & plain paste.

 

Also no-one has mentioned tearing the paper into strips to keep the edges
fibrous, and also =93cooking=94 your paper beforehand to soften the fibres. Over
the years this is how I've built many giant puppet heads - makes the bond
between layers very sturdy. And you can sand it when it dries too.
