Here in Holon, Israel, I've been privileged to see
some wonderful shows, some amateurish ones and some
experimental. Puppetry groups from Spain, France, USA
(me) Germany, etc. have offered a wide variety of
performance styles and programs. I'll write more when
I get time on my returning flights.

I hope the PoA Festival is at least half as
inspiring... If so, puppetry will take a giant step

The new Center for Puppetry in Israel is a wonderful
facility, with Obraztsov-type puppet museum, only a
bit smaller and much better illuminated, a wonderful
200 seat in-house theater, an outdoor stage...actually
two adjacent ones, and large area for outdoor dining,
kiosks for selling and food facilities.

The city of Holon has financed the facility and Ilan
Savir and staff of hard-working assistants have
thought of everything in the design stage. Best is
room for growth for classes and performances. Holon
is rapidly becoming a cultural center in Israel...not
to be missed by visitors. Nearby are additional
theaters with state-of-the-art lighting and sound
equipment AND helpful staff to insure anything needed
by the artists.

I will describe later the programs that I enjoyed most
and want to recommend for future US Festivals. Great
ideas to share.

Best regards, Jim Gamble
