I'm looking for information on black-theatre (sheet-of-light) equipment. Maybe there's something posted in the archives - if so, please guide me to the approximate place, as I've searched pretty far. Two questions: 1. I need instruments that will work for a stage opening about 7 ft. wide, 5 ft. high. I have a stock of 500w lekos from our live-actor theatre work, but that's vast over-kill and this is for touring. I'm assuming I need ellipsoidal spots for sharp definition of beam, and in Googling I find the 75w Altman "Micro Ellipse" that seems workable, but at $175 per instrument I don't wanna be wrong. Any other suggestions from people who've worked with small-scale black-theatre? 2. We're also looking for new lighting control & dimming equipment for our puppet work. Everything we're familiar with from regular theatre work is overkill in terms of load (not to mention cost). We'll be needing lots of programmable cues but very low total wattage at any given time. Our ideal control/dimming system would be this: * A control board with between 12 & 24 channels, but no channels would need to carry more than 500w. * Programmable for 80-100 cues at least. * Ideally, dimmers could get power from a 15-amp household Edison outlet - that's what I mean by low wattage. Lots of tiny instruments, lots of cues, but not lotsa amps. I'm hoping not to be restricted to spaces where we'd have to wire into the 220 box. Any guidance toward a vague approximation of these impossible criteria would be enormously appreciated. I'll give you a scalp massage at Puppet Rampage or whatever your heart desires - except money. Peace & joy- Conrad B. _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-puptcrit.org Admin interface: http://lists.puptcrit.org/mailman/listinfo/puptcrit Archives: http://www.driftline.org
