Subject: [Puptcrit] Japanese National Treasure---Bunraku Tour USA October


For the first time since 1983,  Bunraku from Osaka, Japan visits the USA beginning October 2 (Tuesday)-October 3 (Wednesday) at 7:30 pm at Cuter Majestic Theatre, Emerson College. Tickets: $20-$65 plus fees, in Boston MA.

The tour visits several locales: after Boston, then Urbana & Chicago IL. Then to California at UC Berkeley's Zellerbach Auditorium October 13 at 8 pm and Oct 14 at 3 pm with a pre-performance talk at 7:30 Oct 13 free to ticket-holders--tickets $76. www.calperfs.berkeley.edu/
There is a Bunraku symposium on campus in Wheeler Hall 7:30 pm Thursday Oct 11.

Apparently the tour ends in Los Angeles at the Japan America Theatre in Little Tokyo, 244 S San Pedro St---I will have tp do a second post on details---my 3x5 card has gotten lost. My memory has it for a total of 4 perfomances. To be continued....

With current dscussion on high standards in puppet theatre, I recommend that instead of folks insulting each other, they make the supreme effort to get tickets and make a trip to the nearest venue---it is still cheaper than flying to Japan on George W Bush dollars.
