Subject: [Puptcrit] Table Top Rod Puppet History

Hey all you historians,

I have a question for you.

When I started in the Puppet theatre industry, I was told that
European and American Table Top puppetry where derived from Ningyo
Joruri or Bunraku puppetry from Japan. This seemed very logical
to me, as I had seen a traditional performance, the similarities were
obvious. So I never really researched it.
However, I find myself with a need to map it transition/birth from
traditional Ningyo Joruri and can't seem to find any article on the
Internet to back up this logic.

So, here is the question.
Does anyone know of an article that I might find on the net written
about this transition, or a book that I might locate that would
have this belief confirmed? Or does any one have information or
can point me toward research that says I accepted miss information.

Thank you so much for your assistance.

Best,
Liz
