One of the more interesting discoveries of my ongoing research into
Indonesian interculturalism has been the wife-and-husband Jewish German
team of Kate Baer-Freyer and Albert Baer. She performed with wayang
kulit style figures (which she designed) and he wrote the scripts. 

A collection of the Baers' plays titled Biblische Puppetspiele was
published in Berlin in 1924 with the assistance of the Judischer
Nationalfonds and contains 3 short verse plays for puppets: Joseph und
Seine Bruder, David und Goliath, Salomo und die Koningin von Saba. As
far as I am aware none of these has been translated yet - but it would
make an excellent project for any German speaker!
