 *Just a little background on Howdy Doody. Bob Smith was originally from
here in Buffalo and was a popular radio personality here before going to New
York. "Elmer" who went on to become Howdy Doody was a voice that he used on
his daily radio shows here in Buffalo. He would greet Bob Smith with "Howdy
doody, Mr. Smith". I remember this from when I was a child listening to the
radio here. *
