Subject: [Puptcrit] Unexpected puppet news from China

The Los Angeles Times, December 31, 2007 had a half-page article about
the English language newspaper (The China Daily) and its daily news of
the weird.

Among the weird reports:

Recently Hong Kong welfare workers were using puppets to demonstrate
masturbation techniques to the mentally handicapped ("Puppets enlisted
to instruct on onanism") as a means of dealing with their sexual needs.
"Psychologists said previous attempts at teaching the mentally
disabled...had led to misunderstandings and even proved dangerous". No
amplification of this information followed, but puppet shows sound like
an improvement.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

ALAN COOK
