Subject: [Puptcrit] TECH: Rotating eyeball or ball-and socket

Hi all.

The plastic ball on a bottle of roll-on deodorant would work great as an ball and socket system, or a rotating eyeball.
All one would need to add is a stem in the back, which can either be manipulated directly, or be attached to a control system.

The movement is already smooth, its socket is tight enough, and won't pop out.
Cutting the head of the bottle and keeping some of it as an achoring to include in the puppet is probably a good idea.
The remaining challenge is to find an adhesive that will work with this plastic.

I don't know if it will work with all brands of roll-on deodorant, but the one I got is called "Naturally Fresh" Deodorant Crystal (made in USA).

Even if you don't need the socket system, the ball itself is very strong to make a fixed eyeball.
It took a little while to clean the bottle, there is Xanthan gum in the ingredients (a bit sticky). I succeeded with lots of soap and water, rubbing (paintbrush) and rinsing.
